September.
Monday night, Labor Day weekend. The end of summer, although to be honest, the lazy days of summer ended over a month ago when the girlies went back school. It's been a good summer, a busy one, but I am looking forward to the autumn weather whenever it might decide to show up.
Other things I'm looking towards this September:
- My birthday. A big one. Between now and then I'm just trying to take some deep breaths. On the other side of that day, I'll be fine. Maybe I'll even be able to say it out loud: I am fifty. It really shouldn't be that difficult--I've been lying about my age for a year now (Rounding up, people, rounding up; the logic being I can keep this number for a year or two or three...)
- Buying myself a big, fat birthday gift: maybe this, this, this or this. Hubby says, "just wait.." I'm not waiting; I'm not getting any younger, you know.
- Cashmere sweaters. As always, I love the ones at J. Crew.
- Starting a self-portrait class called Finding Your Joy. Looking over the thousands of photos I have in my iPhoto, I am probably in less than hundred. Whole vacations have been taken seemingly without me because I am not in a single photo. Sound familiar? I am going to perfect the art of the self-portrait. And here I am, in the ubiquitous photo-in-the-bathroom mirror.
- Changing up my work schedule and cutting back on work to do preschool/elementary school drop-off/pick-up. My daughter has been accepted into a nursing program at the last moment; everyone in the family has stepped up to help out with the girlies while Jessica is putting in long hours in clinical.
- The end of ramadan.
- New fall televison.
- Sprucing up the blog. I started changing things a few months ago, got stumped on some coding and...just let it go. Time to learn new things, right? I'm getting some much needed inspiration and direction from Holly at decor8 and Leslie at A Creative Mint.
- Saturday morning soccer games for the girlies.
Deep breath and exhale.
Welcome to September.
