On any given day, I rely on any number of everyday things to get me through: an alarm clock, that first cup of tea, my iPhone, my car. I also rely on a number of things that, while not necessary, definitely make getting through my day a lot more enjoyable.
These are my little daily luxuries:
Fresh flowers. During most of the year, this is an easy one that only involves walking out to the garden and cutting whatever happens to be in bloom. In the winter, I rely on Costco flowers. I have my favorites: ranunculus, peonies and roses, zinnias, and dahlias.
Lip balm. I am addicted to lip balm. I love how my lips feel with a slick of glossy, tinted, flavored, or medicinal balm on them. I have my lip balms stashed everywhere: Bobbi Brown in my car, the Blistex in my drawer at work. In my handbag I carry no less than three: Clinique Chubby Stick, Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour and Laura Mercier lip balm.
Hand Cream. Another small obsession luxury. I am always on the hunt for the perfect hand cream. Not too thick or too thin. Not too greasy and it has to absorb completely and quickly. No scent or a very sutble one. Again, I am over the top on this one. These four are my current favorites and like the lip balms, I have them stashed in my car, desk, bedside table and handbag.
Starbucks. Specifically, trenta black iced tea, no syrup, three Splenda. Every. Day.
My camera. I've been doing the photo-a-day thing since January 2010. I love my camera. I take it everywhere. I like being able to capture that perfect and not-so-perfect moment, the random things in everyday life, and just life in general.
That's it. My five everyday things. Little luxuries to be sure.
How about you? Do you have little "somethings" that make getting through your day more enjoyable?
